カナダの古楽アンサンブル「トロント・コンソート」によるオルランド・ディ・ラッソ（ローラン・ド・ラッスス）シャンソン＆マドリガル集。リコーダーが活躍して閑雅でよいです。
ラッススは生前からたいへん令名を馳せていたようですが、晩年には鬱病（メランコリア）に罹っていたようです。そういうところは親近感がもてます。

「Come pianta ch'a poco a poco manca
Del nutriment' ond' era verde e viva,
Quanto florida e fresco alto saliva,
Tanto china giù il capo, e'l crine imbianca:
Cosi il vigor mancand' ond' era franca
Mia vita e lieta nel suo april floriva,
Questa mia secca spoglia e d'humor priva
Sento pian pian chinarsi e grave e stanca.
Perchè qual peregrin, ch's notte alberga
E pensa del camin quanto gli avanza,
Che di fornirlo in brev'è il suo consiglio,
Va tu pensando a questa breve stanza,

「Like a plant which little by little loses the nourishment by which it was kept green and healthy, though it climbed high, flourishing and fresh, just as far down it bends its head, and its foliage fades; so, where my life was carefree and happy in its April flowering, I feel this my withered frame, losing strength and deprived of vitality, softly, bow down, both heavy and tired.
As the pilgrim who lodges at night thinks of the journey that still remains and is persuaded to finish it quickly, go, you my soul, thinking of this brief sojourn, that thus you might raise youself on wings far above the Styx and far from eternal exile.」
