「These two CDs reproduce virtually all of the two entire evenings of work, omitting only a seriously flawed recording of "Sweet And Lovely" (Rouse is almost inaudible throughout) that followed "Evidence" in the third set on October 31st, and also retaining only the last of each night's three brief set-closing performances of Monk's ever-present theme, "Epistrophy."」

2枚組用透明ジュエルケース（10mm厚）。ブックレット（全12頁）にトラックリスト＆クレジット、「Monk Live at the It Club」（Bob Blumenthal）、写真図版（モノクロ3点）、裏表紙に写真図版（モノクロ）1点。インレイにトラックリスト＆内容紹介文。
セロニアス・モンク・カルテット（チャーリー・ラウズ／ラリー・ゲイルズ／ベン・ライリー）の1964年10月31日＆11月1日「イット・クラブ」（ロサンジェルス）でのライヴのほぼ全曲を収録した2枚組CDです（12曲を抜粋＆編集したオリジナル2枚組LPは1982年にリリースされています）。
Columbiaレーベル時代のモンクは同じことを繰り返していて変化がないという批判がありますが、「自分を変える」とか「前向き」とかいった、ジャズ界のみならず世間一般に支配的な考え方はモンクには無縁で、1941年にミントンズ・プレイハウスのハウス・ピアニストになって以来クロージング・テーマとして演奏してきた「エピストロフィー」が1964年録音の本CDでも演奏されていることからもわかるように、モンクは頑ななまでに自分自身を貫き通しています。つまり、変化のなさこそがモンクの創造性の証であって、自分を変えることなく断固として自分自身の音楽を演奏する（Play yourself）＝自分自身になる（Be yourself）ことによって逆に音楽界（社会）のあり方を変えてしまう、それこそがモンクが反逆者（rebel）たる所以なのではないでしょうか。
それはそれとして、本CDは当時のモンク・カルテットのライヴの様子が思う存分堪能できるし、「ブルー・モンク」「リズマニング」「ラウンド・ミッドナイト」といった定番曲のみならず、ジジ・グライスとの『Nica's Tempo』（1955年）でしか聴けなかった難曲「ギャロップズ・ギャロップ」も取り上げられていて、ある意味Columbia時代のベスト作といってもよいかもしれないです。
