モントリオールの古楽アンサンブル「ラ・ヌフ」の第1作『狂女フアナのための音楽』。スペインのフェルナンド2世とイサベル1世のカトリック両王の第3子として生まれ、即位後、心を病んで40年に及ぶ幽閉生活のうちに世を去った女王フアナを主人公に、音楽劇として上演されたもののCD化です。
オリジナルCDは1992年にカナダのMelodicレーベルよりリリースされました。本CDは米Dorianからの再発盤です。
