◆本CD解説（Martin Best）より（大意）◆　

ダンテ・アリギエーリは1265年フィレンツェに生まれ、1321年ラヴェンナで死んだ。『神曲』は有名だし、『新生』も知っている人は知っているが、『俗語詩論』となるとほとんど知られていない。しかしどれも重要な作品であり、基本的な部分をトゥルバドゥールに負っているのだ。
『俗語詩論』は詩の技術に関する論文であり、文語の発展の必要性を論じている。ダンテはトスカナ方言を文学の言語として選び、理想的な詩形をグイード・カヴァルカンティによって完成されたカンツォーネに見出しているが、この結論を得るに当たって、ダンテは詩形と俗語の完成に努めた先達としてのトゥルバドゥールたちへの負債を認めている。
『新生』にみられるベアトリーチェへの愛にもトゥルバドゥール的特徴が認められる。
『神曲』において、ベアトリーチェはついに、人間的な愛と神的な愛の源泉がひとつになった輝かしい女性像となる。『神曲』における魂の旅の途次に、われわれは何人かのトゥルバドゥールたちに出会う。
このレコードに登場するトゥルバドゥールたちは、ダンテが直接的に言及している人々と、シチリア派や清新派の詩人たちに影響を与えた人々である。
