◆本CD解説より（大意）◆

舞曲（パヴァーヌ、ガイヤルド）や変奏曲（パッサメッツォ）のレパートリーはここには収めていない。
「リチェルカーレ」あるいは「ファンタジア」と様々に題されたほぼ100曲の純粋な器楽曲――声楽曲から借りてきたモチーフに基いたものもある（ジャン・リシャフォールのシャンソン「de mon triste desplaisir」に基づく「Fantasia de mon triste」のように）――が、フランチェスコの仕事の基礎をなしており、それが彼をたんなる熟練した演奏家ではない、ジョスカン派の対位法で鍛えられた真の作曲家にしている。
およそ40曲ある声楽曲の編曲（intabulations）が、彼の仕事のもう一つの側面をあらわしている。ジョスカン、コンペール、セルミジ、アルカデルト、セルトン、ジャヌカン、ゴンベール、リシャフォールその他のモテットやシャンソン、マドリガルで、編曲は概して原形に忠実で、きわめて控え目な装飾が施されている。フランチェスコは決してアルベール・ド・リップやル・ロワの編曲にみられるような装飾過多に陥ることはなかった。
