◆本CDプログラムノート（Christopher Page）より（大意）◆
このレコードで演奏されているのは15世紀の王宮や貴族の屋敷で聞かれたであろう音楽である。取り上げられた作曲家のほとんどは15世紀の音楽家に望みうる最高の庇護（patronage）を受けていた。イギリス人のロバート・モートンはブルゴーニュ公（フィリップ善良公とシャルル豪胆公）の聖歌隊にいた（シャルル豪胆公自身もすぐれた作曲家であった）。ジル・バンショワもフィリップ善良公の聖歌隊に属しており、ギョーム・デュファイもブルゴーニュの宮廷とつながりをもっていた。
入り組んだ城の中、ここに録音されたような歌や器楽曲が演奏された場所としては大広間（grande salle）があり、特に降誕祭や復活祭、聖霊降臨祭（ペンテコステ）などの祝宴の場であったが、領主の部屋（the lord's chamber）で慰みのために演奏されるほうが騎士道文化においてはふさわしかった。

ブックレット（全8頁）に Christopher Page による解説（英文）と歌詞（フランス語原文と英訳）。
解説はLPのものを転用しているようで、「see back-cover illustration」「see illustration below」などと書かれていますが、CDブックレットにはフロントカバー以外に図版は一切ありません。
