「Smiddyburn was taken from the name of the house in Scotland where I was living at the time, Called 'Back of Smiddyburn'.」
「Flittin' is a colloquial Aberdeen word meaning to move house ... which I did.」
「Both albums were recorded in July 1981 within a fourteen day period - I imagine this would account for their continuity.」

ブックレット（全8頁）にDave Swarbrickによるライナーノーツ（1995年）その他。
デイヴ・スウォーブリックのソロ第3作『スミッディバーン』と第4作『フリッティン』の2枚のLP（2枚とも録音は1981年7月）を全曲収録した2イン1CDです。1996年に英Castle Musicから同内容のCDが出ています。
LP『Smiddyburn』は1981年に英Logoから、LP『Flittin'』は1983年に英Spindrift Recordsからリリースされました。
サンディ・デニー作の#8以外は全てインストで、トラッド曲のアレンジが中心ですが、#1「What Ye Wha I Met the Streen」と#3「Lady Mary Haye's Scotch Measure」と#13「Nathaniel Gow's Lament on the Occasion of the Death of His Brother」はスコットランドのフィドル奏者ナサニエル・ガウ（Nathaniel Gow、1763－1831）作、#2「Sir Charles Coote」はアイルランドのハープ奏者オ・カロラン（1670－1738）作、#10「Parthenia」と#15「Dr. Issacs Maggot」はジョン・プレイフォード（1623－1686）が出版した舞曲集『The Dancing Master』より、#10「Pittengardener's Rant」はスコットランドのフィドル奏者ジェームズ・スコット・スキナー（1843－1927）作です。
